OBJECTIVES

Conservation Web vzw is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting quality preservation, conservation and restoration of art and cultural heritage.

It addresses in the first place the professional field, i.e. all persons and institutions involved in all aspects of art and cultural heritage, being cultural, educational, conservational and economical or any other way.

Conservation Web vzw also wants to raise public awareness regarding its responsibility in conservation and tries to mobilize business partners with regard to conservation sponsoring.

Conservation Web is an independent organization open to everybody who feels appealed to its mission. The association is pluralistic, based on mutual respect and rejects every form of discrimination.


TARGET GROUP

The website www.conservationweb.eu is primarily addressing professional partners. This includes:

• Archives, libraries and museums of all kinds

• Organizations and institutions concerned with preservation and/or conservation management of art and cultural heritag

• Professionals dedicated to preservation and conservation of art and cultural heritage in all its aspects

• Conservation scientists

• Companies developing new materials or providing services to the conservation field

• Organizations interested or sympathizing with our conservation aims

However the website is also open to

• The general public having questions about conservation of collections and a positive approach of cultural materials

METHODOLOGY

To achieve its goals Conservation Web vzw wants to:

• Disseminate information and knowledge

• Follow the evolutions in the field

• Develop national and international synergies with existing governmental and non-governmental organizations

In a first phase Conservation Web vzw will realize its goals through the website www.conservationweb.eu . Later the organization wants to expand its activities to seminars and other activities concerning conservation in association with other partners who have the same objectives.

Conservation Web vzw does not execute conservation or restoration work.


PROFESSIONAL ETHICAL CODE

Just as in many other professions, preservation and conservation professionals have to abide by an ethical professional code of conduct. Most professional bodies require their members to subscribe to this code.

Although Conservation Web vzw is no professional body it wants to sustain a professional and qualitative conservation and restoration. Therefore the organization will only accept professionals into the register who accept, underwrite and declare to work according to the professional ethical code as published on this site.
